Patrols? In front of the castle or atop? It would not be wise to step out of it if they plan to put the castle under siege. Strengthen the walls and the gate. I can handle a bow if necessary.

Mayhaps a map can be of help. Are there maps? If we know how the paths are laid out it might be more easier to be able to determine their attacks. Even though I do not see smallfolk putting a castle under siege. They talk bold but lack the experience.
